These other benefits include provincial and territorial child benefits or child disability benefits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026 Direct Deposit Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you get paid from the CRA for CCB payments, it is based on whether or not you receive your payments through direct deposit or via cheque. If you\u2019re signed up for direct deposit, you\u2019ll receive payments in 2026 on the following dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Payment Month<\/td><td>Payment Dates<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>January<\/td><td>January 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>February<\/td><td>February 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>March<\/td><td>March 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>April<\/td><td>April 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>May<\/td><td>May 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>June<\/td><td>June 19<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>July<\/td><td>July 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>August<\/td><td>August 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>September<\/td><td>September 18<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>October<\/td><td>October 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>November<\/td><td>November 20<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>December<\/td><td>December 11<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you receive your payments via cheque, they\u2019ll be sent out around the direct deposit dates, but it could take up to 10 business days for the cheque to arrive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CCB Eligibility Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to receive the Canada Child Benefit, you need to meet some eligibility criteria. These criteria include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Living with a child who\u2019s under 18<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being primarily responsible for the child (primary caregiver)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being a Canadian resident for tax purposes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your or your spouse or common-law partner must also be one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Canadian Citizen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A permanent resident<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A protected person<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An individual resident who\u2019s registered or able to be registered under the Indian Act<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A temporary resident who\u2019s lived in Canada for the previous 18th months and has a valid permit for the 19th month<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While you can still receive Canada Child Benefits while you have a foster child in your care, you\u2019re unable to receive CCB benefits on the month that Children\u2019s Special Allowances are paid.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll also have to be considered to have shared custody or full custody in order to be considered for CCB payments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.springfinancial.ca\/apply-now?SID=blog&amp;utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=inlinebanner&amp;utm_content=canada-child-benefit-payment-dates\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1500px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1500\/581;display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" data-src=\"https:\/\/springfinancial.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BlogBanner.png\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying for CCB Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applying to receive CCB benefits can be done in a few different ways. You can apply by mail, through birth registration, and your CRA My Account. When you apply, though, it is up to you. However, the CRA recommends that there are some situations where the CRA recommends that you apply right away. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When your child is born<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You get custody of a child&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You begin, end or change a shared custody arrangement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your child starts living with you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your situation does impact what documents you need to apply. Since November of 2023, however, everyone has been required to provide proof of their child\u2019s birth when applying. Once you apply, you should receive your first payment within 8 weeks unless you apply by mail; then it could be 11 weeks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CCB Benefit Amounts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How much you receive for CCB benefits is based on your family\u2019s net income. Currently, the payments for the benefit year of July 2026 to June 2027 are based on your 2025 tax return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the current 2024 benefit year, the maximum CCB amount that you can get for a child under the age of 6 is $8,157 per year or $679.25 per month. For children aged 6 to 17, you get up to $6,883 per year or $573.58 per month. However, in order to receive the full amount for CCB benefits, you need to have an AFNI of $38,273 or lower. The final total of what you could receive is based on what other benefits you\u2019re approved for, as well as the number of children you\u2019re receiving benefits for.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disability Benefit Amounts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you qualify for the Canada Child Benefit and you have a child who qualifies for the Disability Tax Credit, then you could also qualify for the Child Disability Benefit. If you do qualify, then you could be approved for the maximum benefit amount of $3,480 per year or $290.00 month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extra Payments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Canada, your CCB payments will be received monthly. Whether or not you receive extra payments is based on what province you live in and what provincial CCB benefits you qualify for.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alberta Child and Family Benefits are given to Albertans who have children and qualify for these benefits. These benefits are administered at the same time as your Canada Child Benefit, and if your annual income is below $180,000, you can receive extra payments of $100 per month for 6 months no matter how many children you have.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CCB Benefit Payment Increase<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every benefit year, the CRA reassesses what you receive for your Canada Child Benefit payments as well as the maximum payment amounts of the CCB for the upcoming benefit year. This will be the same for any provincial child benefits that you receive, as well as any child disability payments.\u00a0The latest increase will begin in July 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it comes to the Canada Child Benefit, like other government benefits, only some are eligible. In order to start receiving these benefits, you need to meet some eligibility criteria. If you\u2019re approved, then you\u2019ll start receiving these monthly payments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with the Canada Child Benefit payments, you could also be eligible for extra benefits, including the Child Disability Benefit, as well as provincial and territorial child benefits.
